Franke, a former family YouTuber, was convicted in 2024 after years of documented physical and emotional abuse against her children. The case exposed alarming gaps in how abuse is reported, investigated, and addressed—especially when cloaked in religious justification or online celebrity.
“This wasn’t just abuse—it was manipulation, control, and exploitation,” Stewart explains in the article. “The warning signs were there, but the systems in place failed to act until it was nearly too late.”
Stewart also spoke on the passage of Utah’s new law, which mandates child content creators receive a share of profits and have the right to remove content once they’re of age—a response to the growing concern over child influencers being exploited for views and revenue.
While Utah’s legislative response is a step in the right direction, Stewart notes that lasting change requires more than laws—it requires awareness, accountability, and better protective systems.
