At Parker & McConkie, we believe in the power of education and the strength it takes to pursue it after life throws something unexpected your way.

That’s why we are proud to offer the Parker & McConkie Personal Achievement Scholarship. This semi-annual scholarship supports college students and college-bound high school students who have faced a significant life challenge, such as an injury, illness, the loss of a loved one, or another life-changing event and are committed to rebuilding, continuing their education and achieving their goals.

We hope this scholarship can help relieve some of that burden and keep deserving students moving forward.

Scholarship Award Details

Award Amount: 7 scholarships of $1000 will be awarded each semester.

Total Award Per Semester: $7,000

Awarded: Bi-annually during the Spring and Fall semesters.

Essay Requirement

Applicants must submit an original essay of at least five hundred words that clearly and thoughtfully responds to the prompt below.

Essay Prompt

Please address all of the following questions in your essay:

  • “What significant challenge or life event have you experienced and how has it affected your education?”
  • How has working through this challenge prepared you to meet the demands of higher learning?
  • “How will continuing your education demonstrate your determination to move forward and build the future you deserve?”

Essays should reflect your personal experience, growth, and goals and clearly demonstrate how your injury has shaped your educational journey.

Eligibility Requirements

To qualify for the Parker & McConkie Injury Scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Applicants must be currently enrolled in an accredited high school, college, or university in the United States
  • High school applicants must be either a Junior or Senior and planning to attend college
  • College applicants must be enrolled as undergraduate students
  • Applicants must be at least seventeen years of age at the time of submission
  • Applicants must have experienced a significant life challenge that impacted their education such as an injury, illness, the loss of a loved one or another life changing event
  • Essay submissions must be original and written by the applicant
  • AI generated submissions will not be considered
  • Acceptable file formats include doc, docx, or pdf

Scholarship Deadlines

August 21, 2026 for the 2026 Fall semester

February 5, 2027 for the 2027 Spring semester

Scholarship recipients will be announced on or around August 28, 2026 and February
12, 2027.

Selection Criteria

Scholarship recipients will be selected based on the strength and clarity of the essay, the ability to fully address the essay prompt, demonstrated resilience and determination, and a clear commitment to higher education and future goals.
